The Truth About Ninjas

BRIGHTON, England (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Napoleon Dynamite won’t want to hear this, but there’s a lot more to being a ninja than wearing black and assassinating people.

This according to Britain-based ninja researcher Ross Heaven, author of a new book, The Spiritual Practices Of The Ninja (Inner Traditions).

He says the Western perception of the ninja has little to do with the reality – and nothing to do with mutated turtles.

He says the first ninjas appeared in Japan around the 1200s and were people who “opted out of a society that was engaged in war and eroded personal freedoms.”

The ninjas followed a rigorous spiritual path that is designed to help them survive in harsh mountainous areas where it’s hard to grow food or build a shelter.

That’s why many ninja weapons can also double as agricultural tools.

But there’s more. Heaven says female and male ninjas were also schooled in seduction because it’s more efficient to defeat an army by having sex with the general and then poisoning him in the middle of the night.
