Dave Barry Should Be Strung Up For Latest Musical Venture

MIAMI (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Dave Barry should be strung up for his latest musical venture – in more ways than one.

Barry is currently organizing the latest tour of the Rock Bottom Remainders, an ad-hoc musical group featuring himself on lead guitar, backed by best-selling authors like Amy Tan and Mitch Albom.

This year’s tour starts on April 26 in Dallas, and goes to Denver and Los Angeles to raise money for America SCORES, an after-school program that promotes literacy through soccer.

This, despite Barry’s belief that the Remainders would be far more successful, “if we offered not to play.”

Although Barry admits the Remainders won’t win Grammys, he says they do get good reviews from the sound guys at the clubs where they perform.

As he puts it, “We tell them, ‘we suck and we know we suck’ and [the sound techs] like that because they’re usually dealing with bands that suck and don’t realize it.”

But while Barry is happy to play rock star once a year, he admits he’s still waiting for his first groupies. As he puts it, “We tend to attract librarians and they get down but not THAT far down.”
