Toto Returns And Refuses To Dog It

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The 1980s era rock group Toto isn’t dogging it these days. In fact, they’re just about to go on their biggest tour in years.

On April 18, the band will be releasing Falling In Between, its first CD since 1999, and is already planning a major tour behind the release.

The tour begins on Saturday (Feb. 25) in London, and keyboardist David Paich says the new CD is in many ways similar to the band’s biggest album, Toto IV, mainly “because we’re most comfortable being ourselves. On our last album we had our ears too much towards the radio.”

So far, Paich likes what he’s hearing and seeing from the band but admits he’s having to convince them to improvise on the songs because “they don’t want to be too indulgent.”

As Paich puts it, “In a concert, I think people want to hear guitar and drum solos from good musicians.”

Although Toto plans to play hits like “Rosanna” and “Africa,” Paich is willing to consider playing tunes by Xzibit, Ja Rule and Lil Kim – at least the tunes featuring Toto samples.
