The popular videogame will be holding its 4th Annual World Championship next week (Nov. 15) in Orlando, Florida, and 32 players from all over the world will be competing for the $15,000 first prize.
One of the gigabyte golfers competing is Brant Arrington, who by day, is a real estate loan officer in Henderson, Nevada.
He says the top players take the game very seriously. Some will wear gloves while playing while the geekier ones know which sports bars keep their Golden Tee games in the best condition.
Some Golden athletes get even more extreme. Arrington says around championship time its not uncommon for contenders to quit eating greasy foods, which can make the hands slippery.
Arrington also says he and fellow players will use the days before the competition to build up thick skins because, among the top guys, theres lots of ribbing, friendly banter and trash talk.
