Man Taxes Songwriting Ability To Create CD Of Tax Tunes

WELLESLEY, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Paying taxes is taxing enough but try writing a whole album of songs about it.

That’s the challenge songwriter Phil Fragrasso faced when he decided to do a CD dedicated to what he calls the “tax preparation doldrums.”

Fragrasso spent months putting lyrics and music together for the CD, which is called Taxpayer Blues, and says he now understands why the Beatles tune, “Tax Man,” is practically the only song anybody knows about the hassles of paying taxes.

Some of the taxpaying tunes on the CD include “My Tax Return The Fanciful,” which puts lyrics like O pity me for what I’ve done/ My tax return’s a lie./ My gerbil’s really not my son/ I’m not blind in one eye to the tune of “America The Beautiful.”

Despite the taxing job, Fragrasso says the idea of putting taxes to tunes has inspired him and says his next CD may actually include instructional ideas on deductions, tax schedules and other minutiae.

The CD has just been released and if it’s a success, Fragrasso says it will be the first time he actually won’t mind paying taxes.
