Hurricane Katrina Drove Lucy Lawless Batty

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Hurricane Katrina may have had a devastating effect on millions of people but it drove Lucy Lawless batty.

The former Xena star was in New Orleans filming a new TV-movie, Vampire Bats, right before the storm and had to evacuate 24 hours before filming.

Although she survived the storm, it had a major impact on Lawless. She says she “was bummed for four weeks afterward” and questioned whether doing “fluffy pieces of entertainment was really important.”

Eventually, her spirits lifted when she realized entertainment IS important and when she heard some good news.

It seems a few hundred animatronic vampire bats were washed away during the storm and she feared they were lost forever.

Luckily, the bogus bats were recovered and shipped to Nova Scotia for the completion of the film.

The final result airs Oct. 30 on CBS.
