Singing Turkey Farmer Defends His Title: ‘Fastest Lips In The West’

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A singing turkey farmer wants to defend his self-proclaimed title as “Fastest Lips In The West” but says his challengers are too chicken.

For the last three years, Buck Howdy has been leaving his farm in Headwaters, Virginia, in order to perform kiddie music concerts all around the U.S.

During the shows, he challenges audience members in a “Fastest Lips” contest to see who can sing all seven verses of “There’s A Hole In The Bottom Of The Sea” in the shortest amount of time.

Lots of people think they can beat Howdy but, so far, no one has matched his speed at singing: About 13 words per second.

It hasn’t even been close, even though he has performed many times in Washington, D.C., which he notes is “home to some of the biggest fast talkers around.”

Howdy will defend his loose lips in San Diego on Friday (Oct. 14) as part of a release party for his new CD, Giddyup! and hopes some real competition shows up because, as he puts it, “...most of the contests aren’t even close; not even a photo finish.”
