40 Years Of Success For Kenney Jones

LONDON (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Forty is a lucky number for rock drumming legend Kenney Jones – that’s how many years he’s been a successful musician.

Today (Oct. 7) marks the 40th anniversary of the day Jones first hit the British charts with “Whatcha Gonna Do About It,” under the name, the Small Faces.

Although Jones has drummed for classic rock groups like The Faces, the Rolling Stones and the Who, he’s celebrating his 40th year higher than ever on the charts.

Jones is the leader of the Jones Gang, which is scaling the charts with “Angel” from its debut CD, Any Day Now.

He says the thrill of having a hit now is the same as back then. As he puts it, “I feel like I’m seventeen and just starting out.”

But while the Jones Gang has Jones’ name up front, he’s quick not to take complete credit for the song’s success.

That goes to lead singer Robert Hart, who wrote the tune.

As Jones puts it, “He had a bunch of songs in a bag and when he played ‘Angel,’ I said, ‘You’re not putting that one back in the bag.’”

The Jones Gang will be touring the U.S. starting in January.
