Roy Scheider Cops Free Rides In Police Cars

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Starring in cop movies not only leads to fame and fortune, it can also mean free rides from policemen.

That’s the word from actor Roy Scheider who says that after he starred in the 1971 cop classic, The French Connection, he wasn’t able to get a cab for the rest of the decade.

As he puts it, “Invariably, a police car would pull up and someone would say, ‘Detective Russo, can we give you a lift?’”

It doesn’t happen as much these days but Scheider is reliving his cop movie past in Precinct Hollywood, a documentary debuting Monday (Sept. 5) on AMC.
