Disaster Movies Can Change Your Life – If You’re Tia Carrere

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You might dismiss disaster flicks as “popcorn movies,” but it was one such flick that caused actress Tia Carrere to reassess her life.

Carrere – who is best known as Mike Myers’ girlfriend from the Wayne’s World movies – says the 1998 film, Deep Impact, left a deep impact on her, especially the final scene where Tea Leoni and her Dad hug each other as a giant wave splashes over them.

As she puts it, “I remember seeing that and thinking, ‘If that were me facing my final moments, where would I want to be and who would I want to be with?’”

Ultimately, Carrere decided she wouldn’t want to face the end of the world with her then-partner and ended her relationship.

Now, Carrere is in a different relationship and says it is “one that works” and is hoping her new disaster film, Supernova, might have a similar impact on others like Deep Impact had on her.

Supernova, which also stars Luke Perry and Peter Fonda, debuts Sept. 5 on the Hallmark Channel.
