PGA Championship Announcers Stepping Up Their Game Too

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Golfers at the PGA Championship in Springfield, New Jersey, which starts tomorrow (Aug. 11), aren’t the only ones who will try to kick up their games a notch – the announcers calling the tournament will try too.

Jim Nantz, who will anchor the broadcast alongside analyst Lanny Wadkins for the fourth and final major of the year, admits he puts more effort and attention into his preparation for majors than regular golf tournaments.

As he puts it, “I live for these major championships.”

Although the broadcasters had a chance to play the course at the Baltusrol Golf Club for fun and to get a better idea of how the course will play, Nantz says he didn’t take advantage of it – and for good reason.

He jokes, “It wouldn’t do me any help. I wouldn’t be hitting the ball anywhere near where the players hit theirs.”

The final two rounds of the golf championship will air Saturday (Aug. 13) and Sunday on CBS.
