‘Incredibles’ Incredibly Popular With Marching Bands

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The Incredibles was not only a hit in movie theaters, it’s a blockbuster for marching bands.

That’s according to Paul Lavender, a spokesman for Hal Leonard Music, one of the world’s largest suppliers of marching band music.

He says a three-part theme of The Incredibles soundtrack music is the best selling song for marching bands this year and says it’s because the musicians enjoy playing “jazzy spy music a la James Bond and Peter Gunn.”

But The Incredibles soundtrack isn’t the only tune marching up the marching band charts. Lavender says the Black- Eyed Peas’ “Let’s Get It Started” is also striking a chord.

Also, everything old is new again for marching bands. Lavender says many groups this year are relying on classic rock songs like Black Sabbath’s “Crazy Train;” “Enter Sandman” by Metallica; and “Radar Love” by Golden Earring to rouse fans.

Lavender finds the popularity of the hard rock tunes with marching bands ironic because, as he points out, “It’s hard to imagine Metallica being middle-of-the-road.”
