Oompa Loompas High On Chocolate

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you thought the Oompa Loompas in Willy Wonka’s factory were always a little cracked out, it’s probably because they were high on chocolate.

According to David Wolfe, author of a new book Naked Chocolate (Maul Brothers Publishing), cacao (ka-kow) beans – the source for chocolate – “give you the energy of laughter and zaniness.”

He’s not kidding: Cacao beans contain a component similar to THC. Wolfe says, “You can get stoned on chocolate.”

Wolfe is so fond of the magic beans that he suggests making cacao smoothies to help kids with ADD and ingesting 40 to 60 cacao beans before a yoga workout to increase flexibility.

In addition, his book includes recipes for more than 60 psychedelic treats, including a Wonka-esque cacao and blueberry tart called “Violet’s Violent End.”

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory opens on Friday (Jul. 15), but Wolfe claims the timing of his book’s release is purely coincidental, adding, “It was the power of the cacao god.”
