No Such Thing As Sick Days For 13-Year-Old DJ

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You think Howard Stern is dedicated to his job? He can’t match a 13-year- old DJ in Fairhope, Alabama, who once spent a month broadcasting from a hospital bed.

Tres Wiggins, who has been on the airwaves since age nine, had radio equipment brought into the hospital while he was suffering from abdominal problems because he says, “I hate dead air. I just can’t do it.”

Wiggins, host of the Tres Wiggins Show on WTRE FM, also broadcasts from home when he gets a cold and can’t make it to the studio.

He typically does the whole show by himself, including sound, music and editing MP3s sent from his “news guy” out of Michigan.

According to the driven DJ, school comes first, but he’s not stopping until he has his own studio one day.

In his words: “Kids my age say, ‘I can’t wait to grow up and be a vet or a football player.’ You can be one now! You can intern. Instead of playing video games or watching T.V., you can do something to get ready for the real world.”
