Ren And Stimpy Return – For One Night Only

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – This Friday (Jun. 17) should be good for “ee-diots” because Ren and Stimpy are returning to the airwaves.

TV Land will be airing a Ren And Stimpy marathon of the most popular episodes of the animated series – and it’s getting vocal support from Billy West, who originated the voice of Stimpy the cat and did the voice of Ren the chihuahua between 1992 and 1996.

West says he knew the show would be a hit from the first recording session because, as he puts it, “There’s always good chemistry between a guy who’s stupid and a guy who’s smart but an ‘a-hole.’”

Although West created Stimpy, he also recorded Ren’s voice for the 1991 Nickelodeon audition tape and says creator John Kricfalusi asked him to listen to the voices of Peter Lorre, Kirk Douglas and Burl Ives “...and try to match their intensity.”

West isn’t currently doing the voice of Ren or Stimpy but he is busy working on his other favorite series, Futurama, which may be returning to TV screens in the form of a straight- to-DVD movie.
