On June 24, 13 cast members of the HBO drama Deadwood will be visiting the real Deadwood to gamble, tickle the ivories and do other things their characters do on the foul-mouthed western.
Cast members such as Robin Weigart who plays Calamity Jane will visit the same saloons and gaming halls patronized by their real-life counterparts back in the 1870s when Deadwood was the site of a gold mining boom.
Many of the stars are comedians and singers in real life so organizer Tom Griffith expects theyll perform in saloons or in the regularly scheduled reenactment of Wild Bill Hickocks death.
Griffith says the drama has done wonders for tourism and hopes to make the cast visitation an annual event.
To make sure that happens, he promises the actors that they can freely use the same four-letter-words as their characters.
In Griffiths words, Deadwood has always been home to colorful characters with equally colorful language.
