Retired Orthopedic Surgeon Finds Writing Gig In The John

FAIRFAX, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Dropping a comb in a urinal sounds like a real pisser, but for one author it’s been a pipeline to success.

Thomas Neviaser, a retired orthopedic surgeon, is the author of The Comb in the Urinal and Other Perplexities of Life (Pecos Publishing), 16 short stories about common items found in peculiar places.

Neviaser says the idea for the book originated when he saw a comb in a urinal and wondered how it could have gotten there.

He says he started thinking about all the other odd items he’s seen discarded in unusual places, like a pair of shoes dangling from a telephone wire, a mattress on the side of the road or a shoe on the interstate highway.

He quickly came up with several stories – some fictional and some true – that answer how these items might have made it there.

Neviaser says his readers have followed his lead and have started sending him stories they’ve written about similar items.

In his words, “It entices people to think about it.”
