Real Cops Guilty Of ‘Reno 911’-Style Shenanigans

CARSON, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The old saying “art imitates life” might need a role reversal when it comes to talking about the Cops-spoofing series, Reno 911.

According to Thomas Lennon – who plays Lieutenant Jim Dangle on the show – “Cops tell us things that are on the show happen to them all the time.”

Case in point: There was recently a murder case in New Mexico where the helicopter came and blew all the evidence away, and when Lennon heard about it, he said, “Wait, we did that in season two.”

While Dangle and his ragtag team of officers rid the streets of Reno, Nevada, of crazy milkshake men and mocking mimes, the police in Carson, California – where much of the show is shot – show the cast the more sobering side of fighting crime.

When one officer pointed out an empty bullet shell on the ground, Lennon says it was like “when you see a popsicle stick on the ground and you’re like, ‘hmmm...someone ate a popsicle here,’ but not quite.”

Season three of Reno 911 premieres June 14 on Comedy Central.
