Californian And Canadian Chefs Get Ready For Heated Competition

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Canada is an ally of the U.S., but that isn’t stopping some of its chefs from going to war with California.

On Tuesday (May 2), six chefs from Canada and California will be involved in a heated battle for kitchen “sous- premacy” at a California vs. Canada Celebrity Cook-Off that’s taking place in San Francisco.

Two teams of chefs will battle a la the Food Network Show Iron Chef and while it’s supposedly a friendly competition, California-based chef Angela Tamura and British Columbia-based baster Tobias McDonald both admit they want to kick the other team’s butt.

Tamura insists the best chefs are in California because the state has the best selection of year-round produce as well as the advantage of having access to various Mexican spices.

McDonald admits his lack of experience with heat could be a disadvantage but enjoys “being the underdog” and is “very excited to take the crown.”

He warns the contest could get louder “than a Canadian hockey game” and says if the Canadians win this battle they will cook up a challenge to the chefs in New Orleans.
