On May 9, the network will air Extreme Makeover: The Wedding Edition, a special that will see if top party planner Steve Kemble can organize a wedding and reception in three days.
Kemble enjoyed the challenge and says the dream wedding couldn’t have happened to a nicer couple because, “He’s a four-time cancer survivor and she’s a community activist who met him while training for a charity marathon.”
The couple is now saving every penny for the groom’s heart transplant, so Kemble staged the wedding at the groom’s hospital because, as he puts it, “I wanted to give him a positive perception of the place.”
After Kemble got through with the hospital grounds, they resembled New York, complete with an ice rink and a live appearance by Liza Minnelli singing “New York, New York.”
But the most heart-touching moment occurred when the groom – who has never been able to dance with his bride – got a dance lesson from Jennifer Lopez’ ex-hubby, Cris Judd.
