Pope Poems

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Producers of a new spoken word CD of Pope John Paul II’s poetry are hoping it proves “popeular” with devotees.

The so-called Pope John Paul II Poems and Meditations released by St. Clair Entertainment features a number of poems written as far back as Polish-born Karol Wojtyla’s days in Nazi Poland, before he entered into the papacy.

One early piece titled “The Schizoid” is drawing attention because its romantic style has some believing it’s a love poem, giving some insight into John Paul II’s personal side.

The apologetic-sounding poem includes lines like...

There are moments of dullness, hopeless moments/ Will I kindle my thoughts again?/ Set my heart ablaze again?/ Don’t leave me in those moments/ Don’t let my anger upset you.

Other poems on the CD include: “Thinking Back on the Encounter”; “Madder”; and “Melancholy.”

The CD will hit Wal-Mart and other retailers Monday (Apr. 11).
