Alice Doesn’t Rock Here Anymore

TUSCON, Ariz. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You can bet your sweet fanny that rock ‘n’ roll’s first all-girl band will be inducted into a music hall of fame.

However, it’s not the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

The Iowa Music Hall of Fame has just announced they will induct 1970s group Fanny into their hall in September.

Alice de Buhr, drummer for Fanny, says she thought she was being scammed when she got the news.

After the disbelief wore off, she says the honor “feels silly” considering the group stopped playing “some 30 odd years ago.”

But still, de Buhr feels like she was a pioneer for other female rock and roll bands.

Although back then she says they didn’t feel any pressure to party and booze it up to the extent of male bands, she says subconsciously they “had to act like jackasses like guy bands.”

But she admits instead of indulging in hotel-wrecking antics, “we probably cleaned the motel room before we got out.”
