Video Game Developer Who Pushes Right Buttons Can Win Contract

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Video game geeks can turn their love of button-pushing into cash by developing their own video game for a new contest.

Zango Games, a provider of downloadable online games, will award a $50,000 game development contract to the winner of the Game Playmakaz Contest.

Up to 100 gamers are expected to submit their proposed games to through the end of the contest, which ends July 31 with a winner being announced in October.

Judges will rate submitted games based on overall design, creativity and playability, as well as music and sound.

Zango Games spokesman Charles Balas says the contest was started because there “isn’t enough creativity in the gaming world anymore,” and too many games are sequels and offshoots – like the Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto franchises.

Balas hopes the winner can help fill this void, even if it’s just in the online gaming realm. He figures it has to start somewhere.
