Home Crafters Get Nasty

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Glue guns are becoming deadly weapons on a new game show which mixes Martha Stewart Living with cage match wrestling.

The show, Craft Corner Deathmatch, pits hardcore home craft project experts against one another inside a caged ring that resembles the battle arena in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Their challenges range from creating a trivet out of a pile of New York City street trash to crafting hats and boots from the pelts of stuffed animals and the winner faces off against “The Craft Lady of Steel” – a supposedly fearsome crafts expert.

Show co-creator Dan Taberski says the Deathmatch can get bloody: Two competitors have slashed themselves with scissors and judges had to force them to stop and get bandaged up.

The show premieres on the Style Network tomorrow (Mar. 9), just in time for jail-sprung crafts queen Martha Stewart to tune in.

Taberski says he’s not sure if Stewart’s recent prison release will help or hurt the show’s success, but admits this is the one program that shows what crafting might be like in the Big House.
