Urine Not That Tough To Swallow

Monday, March 22, 2010 17:32 GMT

PORTLAND, Ore. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Drinking pee isn’t really all THAT gross.

Just ask Bart King, author of The Big Book Of Gross Stuff (Gibbs Smith), a book for curious kids and immature adults about everything disgusting, from pee and poop to boogers and burps.

After researching every oozing, nasty thing, the “naturally squeamish” King reports that urine no longer freaks him out.

That’s because many cultures around the world use pee as a antiseptic and even drink the warm stuff. In fact, spit – permanently in our mouths – has way more bacteria in it than urine.

King is, however, totally grossed out by other things like spitwads, skin scabs, and poop, which is “swarming with germs.”

The gooey details of child birth also give him the willies. He could barely get through writing a chapter about it.

King says anything “moist or gushy coming out of a bodily orifice” can usually be classified as “gross,” with the exception of tears.
