LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Being white can be disappointing to a black man.That’s what NFL legend Emmitt Smith discovered while studying his ancestry on Who Do You Think You Are?, a show that helps celebrities track down their history and heritage.
There had been rumors of white ancestry in his family and in going through his bloodline, Smith discovered that it’s true.
This wasn’t the best news, however, since he found out one of his ancestors was a white slave owner.
He laments, “What bothered me the most is how my white ancestors treated my black ancestors. They looked at them like cattle. Like less than horses.”
Despite the disappointing revelation, Smith is glad his “heart doesn’t feel that evil,” because those were different times.
Fans of the tough athlete will be surprised to see how emotional and teary-eyed he gets on the episode, airing this Friday (Mar. 12) on NBC.
