Host Your Own Makeshift Olympics

Thursday, February 18, 2010 17:22 GMT

RICHMOND, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Those who can’t get to the real Winter Olympics can host their own makeshift games elsewhere.

For the past 20 years, Gary Gauldin of Outrageous Games has brought a mini wannabe Olympics – complete with wacky games, music, torch lighting, and medal ceremonies – to corporate and private events.

His staff of “officials” set up relay races and silly games like “Oddball,” where teams must move around a beach ball using only a softball wrapped in pantyhose dangling from their hips.

After the games – which don’t require an ounce of athleticism – they hold a medal ceremony on a tiered podium for the winners, just like the real Olympics.

To make their moment extra special, Gauldin crowns them with lots of build-up and “fanfare” as the crowd cheers on.

Though some have hired Gauldin to host the games in their very own yards, he’s also a hit at corporate team-building events.
