Antique Books Protect Laptops

Tuesday, January 26, 2010 17:22 GMT

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Antique books can provide serious protection for your hard drive.

Design company TwelveSouth is keeping computer thieves at bay with their “Bookbook,” a cover for Macbooks that looks like a hardcover antique book.

Spokesperson Andrew Green says the hard cover will not only keep a laptop safe from cracks and scratches, it’ll fool thieves who want to take off with a pricey piece of technology.

He adds, “The Bookbook gives a laptop that cloak of security. It’s not the obvious thing a thief would go for. You lay it on a desk and people have no clue.”

Green thinks the mix of modern technology with something that appears to be very old makes for an interesting juxtaposition and is a great conversation piece.

It also gives people a distinguished air about them, even if all they have on their computer is downloaded porn.
