‘Cagney & Lacey’ Stars Have The Giggles

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The ’80s female cop show, Cagney & Lacey, was a serious drama – well, sort of.

According to series stars Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly, who played New York police detectives, the filming of Cagney & Lacey was one big giggle fest.

Gless recalls working extremely long days on the set that by the end, left her and Daly in stitches.

There would come a point when the actresses would be so tired, every take would wind up with them giggling “hysterically.”

Daly adds, “Sharon taught me to laugh as much as humanly possible. The more serious the scene, the harder we’d laugh.”

The women – who made TV history in the only drama series ever to star two female leads – remain friends to this day.

Whenever one’s upset, they call each other, crack jokes, or “go out for a hot fudge sundae” to feel better.

Daly is guest starring in an upcoming episode of Gless’ show, Burn Notice, airing January 21 on USA.
