Santas Train Hard to Spread Cheer

MIDLAND, Mich. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Spreading ho-ho-holiday cheer comes with tough training.

The Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School in Midland, Michigan, has been whipping wannabe Santas into shape since 1937, teaching bearded men the ways of jolly old St. Nick with their thorough classes.

Co-dean Holly Valent says, “You either have it or you don’t. It takes someone who loves children and wants to bring happiness to people during that time of year. Not everyone can do it.”

She, along with her professional Santa hubby, teach courses on singing, Santa dancing, the North Pole, elves, and Christmas history.

Students must eat milk and cookies all day and spend time with the real reindeer on campus so they “learn what they smell like, look like, and sound like.”

Santas must also have impeccable hygiene, and are taught to have fresh breath, clean nails and hands, and no body odor so “kids have a good experience.”
