In addition to red wine and dark chocolate, doctors are now saying that kicking back has serious health benefits too.
According to a study by La-Z-Boy, 94 percent of doctors say sitting at home in a reclining position helps reduce stress.
Thats because reclining provides more support for muscles and joints than sitting or lying down, allowing you to physically relax the opposite of the stress reaction, which makes the body tense.
Doctors recommend people get a whopping 53 minutes of relaxation a day, in conjunction with other healthy habits, to relieve stress.
This down time especially during the stressful holiday season helps folks unwind, resulting in lower blood pressure and better emotional and mental health.
