Kicking Feet Up Good For Health

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you want to curb holiday stress, just kick up your feet – literally.

In addition to red wine and dark chocolate, doctors are now saying that kicking back has serious health benefits too.

According to a study by La-Z-Boy, 94 percent of doctors say sitting at home in a reclining position helps reduce stress.

That’s because reclining provides more support for muscles and joints than sitting or lying down, allowing you to physically relax – the opposite of the stress reaction, which makes the body tense.

Doctors recommend people get a whopping 53 minutes of relaxation a day, in conjunction with other healthy habits, to relieve stress.

This down time – especially during the stressful holiday season – helps folks unwind, resulting in lower blood pressure and better emotional and mental health.
