Egomaniacs Addicted To Christmas Lights

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – People who are obsessed with themselves may also become obsessed with Christmas lights.

According to psychologist Dr. John Grohol, an addiction to Christmas lights can easily develop in those who crave attention.

People who deck their houses out with extreme lights, Santas, and reindeer may feel a “high” from decorating and from all the attention their display gets.

This attention strokes their egos and makes them feel like they’re finally being recognized for their hard work.

Since Christmas lights are cheap, it’s easy for people to get carried away.

Grohol says those who are “bored with their cookie cutter homes,” may especially take to holiday decorating to break out of the norm.

Wannabe Clark Griswolds not only compete with neighbors, they compete with themselves to outdo their displays from years past.

Grohol says extreme addicts spend thousands of dollars and hire professionals to do the dirty work.
