So says David Frei, a renowned dog breeder wholl serve as an expert analyst on the National Dog Show Presented By Purina airing Thursday (Nov. 26) on NBC.
Though Frei has worked with the fanciest breeds, he insists that once the public prancing is over, show dogs are just like real dogs.
He says, Theyre not sitting on a cushion eating bon-bons every day.
Instead, show dogs shed on the couch, get riled up while playing, swipe food off the dinner table, and even drink from the toilet.
No matter what breed, Frei has come to realize that pups just love being pups.
Another secret: Though the dog show world is very competitive, Frei says owners are like one big family.
Theyre constantly on the road together sharing doggy grooming tips.
