Rules Of ‘Shotgun’ Officially Declared

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The rules of “shotgun” are officially set.

Tom Reuter was tired of people making up rules about who gets to ride in the front seat of the car, so he sat down and wrote the Official Shotgun Rules to set things straight.

Though there are many guidelines to follow, Reuter says the most important one is that people “actually have to say shotgun,” not call “front seat” or use any other term to reserve the prime spot.

Shotgun callers must have the car in their line of sight. They can’t call dibs on the passenger seat from inside a house or movie theater.

Reuter says people who “call shotgun for a later date” get on his nerves and has proclaimed that doing so is an offense punishable by removing shotgun privileges from that person for a whole day.

He thinks anyone who disobeys the rules should be reprimanded so they’re “motivated” to follow the official guidelines.
