‘Octobeard’ Honors Billy Mays

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A group of college students in Massachusetts are taking a month-long break from their razors.

Students at Bridgewater State College are celebrating “Octobeard,” growing out their facial hair the entire month.

Creator John Pouche says this year, Octobeardians are growing their gruff in honor of their late bearded hero Billy Mays.

He adds, “He had one of the best beards of all time. I can’t think of anyone that did it like Billy Mays.”

One Octobeardian has even promised to style his scruff exactly like Mays, which Pouche says will show how much Octobeardians “will miss his work and his beard.”

But growing a full-bodied beard doesn’t come easy.

Pouche admits he can’t sprout a shaggy beard and chalks up growing ability to “good genes.”

Some participants even Google “how to grow a better beard” to prepare for the month-long hair affair.
