Nigel Lythgoe Scared To Boogie

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – So You Think You Can Dance judge Nigel Lythgoe is scared to boogie on TV.

Though he’s been dancing since age 11, Lythgoe says public performances are no longer his cup of tea.

He admits dancing on the season five finale of SYTYCD this past summer was terrifying, although it was only a quick routine.

Lythgoe recalls, “We danced to about 12 bars of music and I was scared stiff. I really don’t enjoy that feeling.”

Instead, he’d rather watch modern dancers from the judges’ panel, which is just as exciting.

Lythgoe says there’s been “exponential growth” in dancing lately because street dancers are teaching formally- trained dancers how to break out of their box.

He says the American legacy of dance is back, just like the movements started by late dance floor kings Patrick Swayze and Michael Jackson.

The fall season of SYTYCD is now airing on FOX.
