This Friday (Sep. 11), STYLESENSE will host their Stiletto Sprint, short races where runners are required to wear high heels.
Sprint organizer Shannon Johnson says more than 220 women will race, many of whom have been training for the high heel heats by testing out different pairs of stilettos while running in their yards.
Johnson says the shoes for the sprint must be at least three inches high and have some sort of backing or strap.
She figures thicker heels will be the most stable for the run, but anything above three inches, mules that slip off, or platforms could hinder ones balance and speed.
All women will wear electronic anklets to mark their sprint time, which should help prevent a winner by a pointy toe photo finish.
The fastest sprinter wins $10,000 for shoes, of course and will likely want a nice foot rub right afterwards.
