Mountain Unicycling Rocks

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Trekking mountains on a unicycle is better when things are rockin’.

MUni, or mountain unicycling, is a sport that takes one- wheeled adventurers to the toughest terrains in America to ride, climb, and explore.

According to John Foss, an early purveyor of MUni, initially learning to ride a unicycle is like “learning to walk in high heels,” hard at first, but once someone gets used to it, they can handle anything on them.

But that’s when things get rocky.

Foss says that when it comes to climbing mountains on one wheel, “the rockier the better” because it’s a real challenge to conquer the bumpy trails.

MUni comes with its set of dangers similar to those mountain bikers face.

Mountain unicyclists have to watch out for poison oak, rattlesnakes, and taking nasty spills while riding, though they’re able to land on the feet much easier than bikers can.
