James Van Der Beek Experiences Water Torture

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Dawson’s Creek alum James Van Der Beek really made a splash on the set of his latest gig.

Van Der Beek plays a scientist trying to stop a destructive weather system in The Storm, a miniseries premiering this Sunday (Jul. 26) on NBC.

Shooting under non-stop rain towers made filming “very, very wet” for Van Der Beek, who says his biggest challenge was “keeping warm under the rain at 4 AM.”

The soaked actor says every type of weather torture was thrown at him during the shoot, from lightening and wind to torrential storms.

A green screen wasn’t used to simulate the rain, so the onscreen environment was as real as it gets.

Still, the TV water works weren’t as bad as what he endured while shooting Dawson’s Creek.

While filming in North Carolina, Van Der Beek experienced three hurricanes in one season and realized how “helpless” humans are against nature.
