Twitter Claims Jobs

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Twitter can kill your career in 140 characters or less.

Etiquette expert Barbara Pachter says Twitter, Facebook, and other social media could cost you your job if used inappropriately.

For instance, griping about your boss online or “tweeting” that you’d rather be at the bar than working could result in a pink slip.

Posting offensive pictures and videos could also be grounds for firing, like two Domino’s employees who made a YouTube video of themselves doing disgusting things to a pizza and were immediately dismissed when it surfaced.

Pachter says being attached at the hip to your BlackBerry or cell phone could also become a problem in the workplace.

She knows a company who lost a million-dollar contract because their VP played with his BlackBerry under the table during a meeting with the client.

Pachter says that technology in the workplace has a “learning curve,” but one day we’ll figure out polite ways to use it.
