John Salley Finds Real Hell’s Kitchen

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Hell’s kitchen isn’t with fiery chef Gordon Ramsay, it’s in the Costa Rican jungle.

According to NBA star John Salley – who came in third place on I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! – the real hell’s kitchen is where he whipped up meals for his jungle campmates.

Salley – the resident chef on the survival show – says the jungle kitchen was a “sauna” that was always humid.

Still, he cooked in it every day and created recipes inspired by fellow castmates, including a chicken dish named after Lou Diamond Phillips.

Salley also learned to cook their camp staple – beans – “25 different ways” and will share his jungle recipes in a cookbook someday.

Since food was scarce, Salley says nothing went to waste. If someone dropped something on the bug-infested ground, the entire camp would abide by their “three-hour rule” and pick it up before “the roaches got to it.”
