Head – best known for playing Rupert Giles on Buffy The Vampire Slayer – plays a Camelot king in the upcoming series, Merlin, and his role comes with serious power.
Head says his colleagues treat him like royalty and in turn, he keeps them in line.
He jokes, “I’ve been training them to bow when I walk into a room.”
Despite his well-established following, Head assures he’s constantly working to become a better monarch.
He’s vowed to never get “too shouty,” because he doesn’t want to be “one of those kings,” and has asked producers to warn him if his tone ever encroaches on “Queen Of Hearts” territory.
Instead, the king prefers to speak in a lower tone, which gives him a type of authority he admittedly doesn’t have in real life.
Merlin premieres this Sunday (Jun. 21) on NBC.
