The Philanthropist, about a billionaire who travels the world helping those in need, premieres June 24 on NBC, and is shot in poverty-stricken places including Nigeria, South Africa, and Kosovo.
Series star James Purefoy says that visiting those places has given him perspective and he and the crew are more giving than ever.
Hes constantly providing people with food on location, giving pies and fruit to hungry kids on the streets.
He and co-star Neve Campbell recently raised $8,000 to build schools in South Africa, where kids classrooms are often just empty fields.
The Philanthropist prop department has also gotten in on the action by giving away useful set props.
They recently shot a scene in a villagers home in Nigeria and left behind the beds and furniture, which Purefoy says made a huge difference since that mans family had been sleeping on old cots.
