According to local legend, the gateway to hell lies beneath an old cemetery and the ruins of an abandoned church in Stull, Kansas.
Its been part of the towns folklore for generations that Satan visits the freaky site every year on Spring Equinox or Halloween depending on which version you believe to wreak havoc.
Strange, creepy happenings have been reported in the area, including weird time shifts, memory loss, phantom sounds of children playing, haunting voices, and banging noises.
Debbie White, manager of the Lawrence Visitors Bureau, says thrill seekers and goth kids often sneak onto the property to look for the portal.
For this reason, the area is now locked and gated to keep people that shouldnt be there away.
Though she cant say if the protection is there to keep people from opening the gates of hell, she does assure that any trespassers will be arrested.
