Dead Rappers Resurrected In Funky Paintings

AUSTIN, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An artist in Texas has found a ghetto fabulous way to simultaneously recycle thrift store junk and honor dead rappers.

Hope Perkins has created a series of “Dead Rapper Paintings,” featuring thugs like Biggie Smalls, Tupac, and Old Dirty Bastard painted on top of old, cheesy prints she finds at thrift stores.

This results in masterpieces like Tupac praying as a sea of waves crash in the background, or a rapper in front of a lush forest.

Perkins started buying cheap paintings at thrift stores for their canvases, but then realized how ironic it’d be to paint a thuggish rapper in front of a serene backdrop.

However, her dead rapper renderings are a standstill because, in her words, “Rappers aren’t dying fast enough.”

She thinks Lil’ Wayne would be a great art subject and once yearned to paint Snoop Dogg – before he lost his edge.

Perkins also recycles old taxidermy heads and “ghettofies” them by adding bright colors and blingin’ accessories.
