Minnesota Town Needs German Barbarians

NEW ULM, Minn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – German barbarians are hard to find.

That’s why the town of New Ulm, Minnesota, has put a casting call out to anyone who can play a German barbarian for their annual Hermann the Germann Festival, where they hope to re- create the epic battle between German hero Hermann Cherusci and the Roman Legionnaire that happened in the year 9 A.D.

Though the event isn’t until September, organizers are getting a jumpstart on the casting call because a true blue German barbarian is proving difficult to find.

Spokesperson George Glotzbach says, “I don’t think we’ll get a cast of thousands because there aren’t very many people that fit the bill. But New Ulm is the most German city in America, so we might get 50.”

Organizers are allowing anyone, regardless of race or nationality, to participate in the event.

Luckily, a group of Roman Legionnaire re-enactors from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, have signed up to play the bad guys.
