Get Your Dinner Drunk First On St. Paddy’s Day (Mar. 17)

FORT WORTH, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Shooters aren’t the only way to consume alcohol on St. Patrick’s Day (Mar. 17).

Texas-based chef Jon Bonnell says a party hardy St. Paddy’s starts with “getting your dinner drunk first.”

Chef Bonnell says there are tons of ways to incorporate alcohol into meals, which is a more grown-up, refined way to booze on the Irish holiday.

Bonnell has a recipe for “Corn Beef with Irish Whiskey Sauce” that puts a twist on the traditional dish by adding Irish Whiskey to the beef’s salty brine.

Another liquored up dish is Bonnell’s “Vodka Gazpacho” – a cold veggie soup that’s topped off with a thin layer of frozen vodka.

Bonnell says the vodka “brightens up” the flavors of the vegetables and could even give you a little buzz since the alcohol isn’t cooked off like in most hot dishes.

He believes alcohol is a versatile cooking ingredient that automatically gets people excited about their dinner.
