‘American Idol’ Turns Bilingual

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – American Idol viewers can expect free Spanish lessons this season from contestant Jorge Nunez.

Nunez, a bilingual Puerto Rico native, made it to the Top 12 on American Idol this past Wednesday (Mar. 4) and can’t wait to show off his Latin flare.

This includes speaking in Spanish on air once in a while and thanking fans in his native tongue.

Nunez says his appearances on Idol will be like a mini language lesson for viewers.

He’s hoping to eventually sing a song in Spanish like “Killing Me Softly,” because then he can really showcase his pipes at their finest.

Says Nunez: “My voice sounds best when I sing in Spanish because I can really express myself.”

He’s been working with a dialect coach on his accent so it’s not “distracting” during performances, but is relieved to know that the judges don’t mind it.

He says, “My accent is me. I’m 21, so I’m not going to be able to change it that much now!”
