‘Idol’ Finalist Gives Props To Charlie Brown

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – American Idol finalist Adam Lambert credits his early interest in music to Charlie Brown.

Lambert – the animated glam rocker who made it into Idol’s Top 12 last Thursday (Feb. 26) – got his start performing musical theater at just 10 years old.

He was sold on being a singer when he scored the role of Charlie Brown’s best friend in a children’s production of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.

He recounts, “I was Linus [van Pelt], with the blanket and everything. We performed at a theater in San Diego and I loved it!”

As Linus, Lambert got to sing on stage, though he can’t remember exactly which songs.

Since then, he’s been honing his theater chops by starring in many plays including a role as the male lead’s understudy in a production of Wicked.

Lambert believes there’s a market for Broadway/rock music and notes, “There’s lots of camp and costume in the industry right now.”
