‘Star Trek’ Captain Lives Out Trekkie Fantasies

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Faran Tahir is going boldly where trekkies can only dream to go.

Tahir – best known for his evil role in Iron Man – is starring in the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek flick, and says his experience was out of this world, especially because he’s a “closet Trekkie.”

Tahir, who plays Captain Robau, is a huge fan of Star Trek, and says that walking onto the sci-fi ship on the set was a surreal experience.

He explains, “I’m a closet Trekkie, so the whole time I was thinking, ‘I can’t believe I’m on the ship. And I’m the captain! I can do whatever I want in here and it’ll work!’”

Tahir has a feeling that devoted Trekkies will be “pleasantly surprised” by the revamped space flick, and believes the movie will attract a whole new generation of modern- day Trekkies.

He adds, “J.J. Abrams goes for more in-depth stories about the characters, so I think people will relate. It’s a completely fresh take on an iconic idea.”

Star Trek hits theaters this summer.
